Sales! Advice for smart shopping

It’s sales time (finally)!
How much bargain can you do… but also how many mistakes!

Caught up in the excitement, we regularly bring home something that we don’t need and that we’ll never use… Not to mention long lines, stress and waste of time and money…

Here is my handbook on smart shopping:

DO PRE-SHOPPING
Take a visit in the store a few days before, to get an idea what is good: without the crowd, you can make your valuation clearly. Check the availability of sizes, colors and models, to avoid unnecessary tours during sales.

TRY ON CLOTHES EARLIER, MUCH EARLIER
Visiting stores in advance also, you can move forward and try on clothes that you like : in this way, during sales you’ll avoid long line at the dressing room and you’ll only have to pay. Saving time and stress!

PUT YOURSELF COMFORTABLE
Shopping is fun, but it could also be very tiring! Remember: flat shoes and shoulder bag (so your hands are free). Avoid handbags because after a while you’ll want to throw it away in the first garbage can.

WEAR LIGHT CLOTHES
Wear few and light weight clothes! First of all because inside stores it’s very hot; then, because you’ll undress many times to try items. Put on clothes that are easy to remove: slip-on shoes, shirt without buttons, jackets with zipper, …

BE CAREFUL WITH UNDERWEAR
Wear underwear suited for different clothes. The ideal would be smooth and seamless, to easy evaluate the wearability of clothes. Avoid underwear that marks, like black hipster panties or lace bras.

HAVE CLEAR IDEAS
If you start an adventure, without clear ideas, it’s very risky to bring home something that you don’t need. So draft a shopping list with prices you need, starting from lacks in your wardrobe. And give priority to it.

MAKE A BUDGET
Of course, you can’t know in advance whether you’ll find the deal of the century, which is worth mortgaging the house. But you need to make a budget in advance, otherwise you won’t control the situation.

BE REAL
How many times have you said “I buy it even if it’s not size, eventually I will lose weight”? Do you remember how it turned out? Buy for today, not tomorrow: you don’t know how much weight you’ll lose, and especially you can’t know if in the future you’ll love that dress yet…

IF YOU ARE NOT SURE, ABSTAIN!
Ok, it’s not easy: the dress is cute; the price is good; the saleswoman swears that it’s the last piece in the world… but you have still doubts. Well, give up everything and keep doing your tour: if it’s true love, you’ll go back; otherwise it was just a crush…

BE CONSISTENT
One of the most common mistake is: “I wouldn’t know when/ how to wear it… but it’s cheap, I buy it anyway”. Before you buy, ask yourself if you actually will wear it; how and on what occasion. Otherwise you will end up with a full closet and nothing to wear (read my post about this topic).
